What's growing at Yahoo and eBay, and Search Engine Market Shares

In anticipation of Yahoo's and eBay's earnings announcements this week, Nielsen//NetRatings provides the following relevant Web metrics.

 YAHOO!

 - Web traffic to the Yahoo! parent company increased six percent year over year, from a three-month average monthly unique audience of 103.5 million unique visitors in Q4 2005 to 110.1 million unique visitors in Q4 2006.

- In online advertising, the number of image-based impressions on Yahoo! grew 24 percent from Q3 2006 to Q4 2006, according to AdRelevance. Sponsored links on the Yahoo! property grew 11 percent in the same time period.

 - Web traffic to the eBay parent company increased 14 percent year over year, from a three-month average monthly unique audience of 62.0 million in Q4 2005 to 70.7 million in Q4 2006. 

- eBay brands Skype, eBay and PayPal all ranked No. 1 in their respective subject categories in December 2006 (Long Distance/Local Carriers, Classifieds/Auctions and Financial Tools).
