Direct Marketing, Mail Order, and E-commerce News from the National Mail Order Association
----------------------------------------------------
Of the 7,440 catalogs available online, 6,668 are also available in print
format.
At the same time, 772 of those catalogs are available only online, up from 648
last year. The number of print-only catalogs declined from 5,169 to 4,701,
according to the Oxbridge Communications' National Directory of Catalogs
2005 edition that includes information on 11,428 North American business and
consumer mail order catalogs.
"As online catalogs continue to grow, existing catalogs are spinning off new
titles
and diversifying their product lines," said Deborah Striplin, editor of the
National
Directory of Catalogs. "For example, Boston Proper, a general clothing catalog,
spun off sportswear and travel apparel catalogs. And Sporty's, a catalog of
training courses and airplane accessories for pilots, launched a new leisure
wear
catalog for men."
Of the 234 subject categories appearing in the 2005 Edition of the National
Directory of Catalogs, the "Automotive" category experienced the most growth,
from 387 to 521 catalogs. The largest catalog categories are "Books," with 1,045
catalogs, and "Apparel/Accessories," with 768 catalogs. Other popular categories
include "Education," "Gardening," "Manufacturing," and "Gifts & Greeting Cards."
For printers, paper brokers, and other suppliers to the publishing industry,
the National
Directory of Catalogs 2005 edition helps them find qualified sales leads based
on
detailed production information, with the most up-to-date information on new
catalogs
and contact information. For marketers, it is a source of prospect lists for
both print
and online sales.
In this one-volume reference book, catalog listings include:
Address/phone/fax/url/and email; names of owner, president and production
manager;
number and frequency of mailings, product line; print specifications, including
trim size,
page count, type of paper, binding and color; name and address of printing
company;
list rental information and name and address of list management company.
Available immediately from Oxbridge Communications (www.mediafinder.com),
or
by calling 1-800-955-0231, the National Directory of Catalogs 2005 edition is
$745
for the print edition, $1095 for the Single-User CD, and $1,695 for both print
