Ask Jeeves Ranks 6th in number of Searches

In light of the Ask Jeeves acquisition, below
is the latest Nielsen//NetRatings data on the
top 10 search providers ranked by searches.
You'll notice that Ask Jeeves was ranked sixth
with a total of 73.3 million searches capturing,
1.8 percent share of total searches, according
to Nielsen//NetRatings MegaView

"The acquisition by InterActive Corp. was imperative
for Ask Jeeves, which required a greater base of
capital in order to continue to innovate on par with
Yahoo!, Google and MSN," said Ken Cassar, director
of strategic analysis, Nielsen//NetRatings.
"It also offers clear benefits to IAC, which has a
wide array of its own commerce properties that can
be promoted on Ask Jeeves."

Cassar added, "IAC's biggest challenge will be to
balance its desire to promote its own properties with
its desire to maximize search revenues; two goals
which will, at times, be at odds with each other."
