Advertising in Newsletters Triples in Five Years According to Oxbridge Directory of Newsletters

NEW YORK, NY-- Newsletters that accept advertising close to tripled in five years, from 1,052 to 3,085 in 2007, according to the Oxbridge Directory of Newsletters. The Oxbridge Directory of Newsletters 2007 Edition was released today, with more than 14,128 U.S. and Canadian newsletters listed.

Legal newsletters continued to be the leading category with 1,125 titles, up from 1,033 in 2006, followed by Medicine, with 845 titles, up from 802, and Computers & Automation with 748 titles, up from 719 last year, according to the Oxbridge Directory of Newsletters. New titles include Computer Security Report and Tech at Play.

The fastest growing newsletter categories in 2006 were Natural History/Wildlife, from 23 to 66, Trucking, from 24 to 34, and Nutrition, from 45 to 56. Electronic newsletters (online, fax, CD, and email) continued to grow to 4,306, up from 3,813 last year.

"Traditionally, newsletters relied exclusively on subscription revenue," said Deborah Striplin, Editorial Director of the Oxbridge Directory of Newsletters. "In the new-media age, however, advertisers are attracted to the targeted readership that newsletters offer, and newsletter publishers are able to tap into a new revenue stream."
