DHL Global Mail Enhances Residential Parcel Service Offering to Latin
America
“Track and Trace" feature responds to customer requirements
With more than 70% of U.S. online retailers regularly fulfilling orders from non-U.S. customers, businesses are in need of reliable, efficient and traceable international shipping options.
Today, DHL Global Mail enhanced its
residential postal parcel delivery services to
Latin America
, in response to dramatic
increases in e-commerce and mail order shipping to customers in the
region (see
news release below).
Latin

has been identified as one of the priority
markets that require enhanced shipping options to serve growing customer
demand.

DHL Global Mail today announced enhancements to its residential postal
parcel delivery services to Latin America
. In response to dramatic increases in e-commerce and mail order
shipping to customers in the region, DHL Global Mail has reduced
delivery times and enhanced customer service capabilities by offering
improved "track and trace" features.
According to Forrester Research, on-line sales in the United States alone are projected to be 13 percent of total retail sales between 2005 and 2010. DHL Global Mail has established numerous priority markets that would require enhanced delivery and operational systems to meet e-commerce customers ' needs. "Latin America is quickly becoming one of the most prevalent shipping destinations for U.S. merchandise. Both on-line and traditional mail order companies that ship to Latin America told us what they needed – reliability and greater accountability. Today we ' ve responded to the voice of our valued customers," reports Joe Phelan , president and chief operating officer - Americas , DHL Global Mail. “We are committed to offering our customers a more efficient product that enables them to easily track their shipments."
The product’s track and trace capabilities allow e-commerce and other
online retailers to check the status of their parcel via DHL Global
Mail’s Web site. This product also includes customs clearance and
returns notification. Standard delivery times for dutiable and
non-dutiable packets and parcels up to 55 pounds (25 kilograms) range
from seven to nine days to Mexico
, Brazil
and Argentina
. Other countries in the region have a seven to twelve day transit time
expectation from the Miami
gateway.

on-line retailers regularly fulfill on-line orders from customers
outside the United States
, according to
Internet Retailer
. DHL Global Mail’s international parcel product accommodates an
increasing demand for a medium-priced track and trace residential parcel
solution to destinations outside the United States
. In 2005, DHL Global Mail launched a similar residential parcel service
to Japan
and eight additional Asian countries.
