Save a
trip to the hardware store on every plumbing project!
A pipe’s size is a mystery if you can only
see the outside of the pipe and can’t tell the size by looking at it.
For those the do-it-yourself plumbers that can’t tell one size pipe
from another by looking at it, a Chicago company has introduced a new
gauge that tells the size of a pipe based on the pipe’s outer
diameter. DIY Pipes of Chicago, IL introduces its new
PipeSizeInterpreter. It helps you find the size of a pipe by
finding the best-fit semicircle when it’s held to a pipe. The gauge
will be initially sold through catalogs. It works with galvanized,
plastic, copper, gas, and CPVC pipe from 1/8" to 2" in inner diameter.
Made of .020” polystyrene plastic, the
PipeSizeInterpreter single-piece template comes with “how to”
instructions, is 3 ¾" x 8" and is made in the USA and should last
indefinitely.
“It really works,” said John
Therriault, the inventor. “I’m not a real handyman, but with the
PipeSizeInterpreter, I can buy plumbing parts like one.” The
concept is simple, but the rewards for the do-it-yourselfer are huge.
He or she can buy parts knowing they’re buying the right sizes. With
the PipeSizeInterpreter the do-it-yourselfer is able to say “I
need a shutoff valve for ½" pipe. With a PipeSizeInterpreter
you know the size.
